The Devil’s Advocate (1997)

the GOOD

8/10

Director: Taylor Hackford

“Guilt is like a bag of fuckin’ bricks. All ya gotta do is set it down.”
10 years after Robert De Niro played the devil himself in the amazing Angel Heart, Al Pacino had his turn on the light bearer in The Devil’s Advocate. Trying to pick a favorite here is out of the question and would be rather useless, both performances are outstanding and the films too different to compare.
This was 2 years before The Matrix would hit theatres, but Keanu Reeves was already a sought after younger actors a few years earlier, even though he rarely got the big parts that he was considered for.
It should be fair to say that this was a big break for Charlize Theron.
The Devil’s Advocate is a good take on the usual good versus evil theme.
