Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (1989)

the GOOD

Director: William Shatner

“Perhaps “because it is there” is not sufficient reason for climbing a mountain.”
Shatner probably couldn’t stand that Nimoy had directed the previous two Star Trek film and somehow got to direct this one. Many consider this to be the weakest of all Star Trek films and even Gene Roddenberry was reportedly very unhappy with it. The story has many good ideas and good jokes, yet also lots of terrible scenes and there are many shortcomings thanks to budget restraines. However there’s a nice early 90s scifi/comic feel to it.
